U2

I first met U2 at the premiere of Rattle and Hum. Like an eejit, I didn’t ask them to sign anything. After that it was at their Dublin recording studio in 1999 and this time, I brought a lot of my collection and they were all happy to sign. Since then, I’ve met them dozens of times, sometimes just out and about – Edge in particular shares my musical taste and I’ve not just seen him at the gigs, I’ve seen him get up to jam! Bono and Edge are still always happy to sign, Larry and Adam sometimes happier to wave and say hi 🙂
Enjoy my U2 autograph collection…

Bono signed POP album cover at the premiere of the film It Might Get Loud in Dublin, 2010. I asked him for a plectrum, he said in his best Dublin accent “I’ve got a microphone in the car if that’s any use”.

Edge signed magazine cover outside u2’s recording studio in Dublin. Can’t remember the year, but I think it might be 2004 when they were playing a gig from the studio the morning after. Edge stayed in the studio that night hours after the other members left and you could hear his loud soloing clearly outside. Great memories.

U2 POP promo photo signed by Edge and Bono

Hard to believe but I wrote Edge a fan letter when Discoteque came out and he sent me this signed POP promo picture. Bono then signed it for me outside the HQ in Dublin, 2008

Probably my rarest item. Freedom of the city official programme signed by all recipients U2, manager Paul McGuinness and Aung San Suu Kyi

Ever seen a Freedom of the city official programme?? I got one at the open air gig in 2000. In 2002, after collecting a Meteor award in Dublin, the band and Paul McGuinness signed it outside SPY nightclub. In I completed the set in 2012 when Aung San Suu Kyi signed it at the Electric Burma concert in Dublin
